In Salt Lake City where is it best to stay and go for skiing?

I'm planning a trip to Utah in Feburary for skiing, for two weeks. Hoping to ski at the mountains around Salt Lake City. Is it best to stay in Salt Lake City and travel up tot he different mountains? Is there go shuttle bus transport to the mountains? or is it best to stay at one of a couple of the mountain resorts? Would I need to hire a car? (I'm from overseas). Would love to hear any advice. In Salt Lake City where is it best to stay and go for skiing?
there are buses that go up to the ski areas twice a day so instead of wasting money on staying at a lodge up at one of the resorts, i would just stay in the valley somewhere.. whether its downtown salt lake or just off the belt route freeway (close to canyons entrance and inexpensive hotels) you dont need to hire a car.. if you did, it would need to be a car with chains on the tires and stuff to get up the canyon.

as far as which place to go skiing at, i reccomend snowbird or brighton
There are hotel buses that will take you up the ski areas. If they doesn't have they will provide you with one option or the other. The more convenient option would be hiring a car as you can have more freedom moving in a car. But keep in mind you will need chains on your wheels. In Salt Lake City where is it best to stay and go for skiing?
