How far is Nevada from Salt Lake City, Utah?

I am going to Salt Lake City in March, but would like to know if it is possible to take a day trip into Nevada. We would like to gamble, so if it's possible..do you recommend a place to go across from the Utah state line?How far is Nevada from Salt Lake City, Utah?
It's about a 2-hour drive on Interstate 80 from the center of Salt Lake City to Wendover and the Nevada State Line. There are a couple of casinos in East Wendover, but if you have the time, it's about another hour west to Elko, which is a bigger town with a better variety of casinos.



A bit more than a day trip, but it's about 6 hours from SLC to Las Vegas, or 8 hours to Reno.
You can just take the I-80 west from Utah to Nevada and be across state lines pretty quickly, and almost every little town in Nevada has at least some slot machines (though the towns can be few and far between). . . but for an actual gambling trip I would suggest you make the apx 5 hour drive down the 15 and just go to Las Vegas.
