How would somebody ship a giant african pouched rat from salt lake city utah to reno nv?

im considering having a giant african pouched rat as a pet, but theres no local breeders i know of. how would somebody ship the rat from salt lake city to reno nv? wouldn't the rat get kill by suffocation or being bumped around to much or escape? How would somebody ship a giant african pouched rat from salt lake city utah to reno nv?
First, have you read your states laws on owning these animals? African pouched rats have become illegal to own in most states. Heres Nevada: http://bornfreeusa.org/b4a2_exotic_anima鈥?/a>

It states a specific family of rat/mice.. So I think it would be illegal, really...

But, if its not. Have you read up on keeping them as pets? Its not like owning a large domestic rat. They ARE wild animals. I think they are neat. But please be prepared to own one if you are serious about this. They aren't easy animals. They need HUGE cages, special diets, daily handeling, and an owner that knows what he's doing.

Heres a couple articles on care/info:

It can costs hundreds of dollars to ship an animal (over $200). And with exotics, it could easily just be considered illegal. But special boxes and care must be used with moving animals. Fedex is one of the only places that do it. And yes, they charge several hundred, I'm pretty sure.
