Places to visit while driving between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.?

I'm flying in to Vegas to stay for a couple days, then driving to visit my sister in Salt Lake. I'm looking for some suggestions on places to stay or visit on the drive up. Any suggestions?Places to visit while driving between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.?
Rather than doing the always boring trip up I-15 Try this instead and yes I have driven it many times

The short version is

LAS%26gt; Mount Carmel Junction UT %26gt;Escalante UT %26gt;Torrey UT%26gt;Salina UT %26gt;Nephi UT %26gt;SLC

The routing itself takes up I-15 up thru the awesome Virgin River Gorge then thru Zion NP Bryce NP %26gt;Capitol Reef NP [if you make a right at Torrey%26gt;and you should check out Capitol Reef for an hour or so ]

The drive from the bottom of the Gorge to Nephi on the route described is just flat out spectacular.

In all fairness I should tell you that once this route leaves the interstate it is very three dimensional and it is driven on mostly high speed 2-3 lane roads. If you chose to do this make sure that your rental has a V-6 in it.

Since you will visiting three national parks you may want to invest in a National Parks Pass. Get it when you pull up to the entrance at Zion NP

Have a safe trip
The drive is 425 miles and about 7 hours. It doesn't leave a lot of time and energy for sightseeing unless you stay in a hotel along the way.

The Shakespeare Festival is supposed to be amazing. It is right along the interestate. Very near the festival is Bryce Canyon National Park.Places to visit while driving between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.?
We did this trip a few years ago.

Utah is LOADED with National Parks; Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, Arches, just to name some of them.

Get a National Parks pass. It's good for a year and allows admission for the car and occupants.

Take a camera. You'll want to remember a lot of this trip.

If you have the time, try a few of the backroads that veer away from but head in the same direction as the interstate. Those backroads are loaded with scenery.
Mesquite, NV

St George, UT

Cedar City, UT

But the drive to SLC is one day by freeway!
