Is All Wheel Drive necessary in Salt Lake City?

I am moving to Salt Lake City soon, and am getting a new car. I will be commuting to work every day in Park City, which is up the mountain and potentially very snowy. Do I need an all wheel drive vehicle, or will front wheel drive suffice? Even if front wheel drive suffices, would all wheel drive be preferable? Is All Wheel Drive necessary in Salt Lake City?
Given what you want to do, I would get the AWD or 4WD, with sufficient ground clearance. Most of the time you would be OK without, but you improve the situation with it. In my case it would be a no brainer. No, you don't NEED it, but there will be times if you don't have it you will wish you did, even if the alternative is FWD. I one time drove my 4WD over to a friends house to pull his FWD out of the snow. In heavy snow, ground clearance is a big factor.
