I was wondering if anyone have ever driven from Los Angeles, CA to Salt Lake City, UT in the winter. Is there anything that we should be prepare for? Do we need chains for our car during some part of the trip? I would really appreciate it if anyone can help us out. Thank you.Driving from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City?
It's about 690 miles, and actual driving time would be around 12-13 hours. It is always wise to carry tire chains when going to areas where it snows, but you probably won't need them. UDOT does a pretty good job of keeping their roads clear. Take some snacks with you, and STOP every couple of hours for a few minutes to walk around to help keep you alert. Check that the coolant in your cars radiator will protect it from the freezing overnight temps in Utah.
No, you are not going to need chains. The freeway is very clean in Utah. You just need a good jacket for yourself, don't worry about the car, just be sure to fill out the tank of gas, because after you pass Las Vegas there are no too many gas stations for a while.Driving from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City?
I did it.. I-15 is a good highway from Barstow. you might want to take a set of chains just in case. but because its a major hiway.. I suspect the Utah highway crew, keeps it clear for the most part.
