Thanks in advance.Should I stay in Salt Lake City to ski in Snowbird?
You can do it pretty easy.
I have stayed at the Days Inn in Midvale and rode the bus up to Snowbird. The hotel offered a "Superpass" that included Tram and Public transit. Make sure to download a copy of the bus schedule. I never had any trouble in the morning, but I did have to wait a few times coming down at the end of the day.
This particular Days Inn was right by a TRAX station too, so running downtown at night was not a problem.
I had a shuttle from the airport, I think it cost me $30 round trip.
There are of course other hotel options in Sandy as well.
Good Luck, have fun!
Yes I have always stayed in downtown SLC when skiing in Alta, Snowbird or at Brighton and Solitude. I have stayed at the Little America, Hampton Inn (downtown and in Murray) as well as the Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn downtown. You can rent a car in downtown area (Enterprise mid sized car) for a moderate price or ride the Trolley (train) and ski bus to Snowbird very conveniently and quickly. Plus there is a lot more to do downtown than around Snowbird when you're done skiing at 4:30 PM. Should I stay in Salt Lake City to ski in Snowbird?
The best thing about Salt Lake City is you can stay in the city and be at the ski slopes fast.
You do not have to limit your skiing to Snowbird you can try different places.
The city bus goes to the ski slopes and you can catch a shuttle.
I have stayed in town and moved around to different areas.
This way you can stay cheaper, eat better food and have something to do in the evening.
Well, I live in Salt Lake. Check the hotels, some have ski area shuttles.
If they don't, check the bus schedules. UTA runs regular buses up the canyons.

Make sure to hit Solitude as well.
Are you skiing or snowboarding? If skiing, hit Alta. The terrain rivals that of Snowbird, but with no snowboarders, the snow quality is so much better.
Hey, have fun!!
Yes, you can easily reach the slopes at Snowbird from Salt Lake City. If memory serves, I think you can make it from downtown to the base of the mountain in about 30 mins or so.
