How can i meet people in Salt lake city?

I will be going over to Salt lake from England at the end of the month to work for a while and i'd like to meet some new people. Being only 20 i obviously can't go into bars or clubs :( so i just wondered if anyone had any advice on this subject. I love football (soccer), any teams near holladay i could join?
